Weird, I suppose, but at least it's honest and sincere. Our only rule is that we only buy something if we are inspired--no gifts out of obligation. I love it. As for your issue...I have no idea!! My girlfriends and I often give money to the RSPCA, where we work, because there's a puppy needing a feed more than I need another manicure set.k a t i ehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13855028397344633215noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6121175953658827634.post-33780339944509963052009-11-11T05:10:25.521-05:002009-11-11T05:10:25.521-05:00Yikes Christmas stress. Make it easy on yourself Maybe have a giant dinner to celebrate the holidays, invite everyone in your family to come and and tell them to bring or send a gift for a needy family to given in your family's name. Then just take care of your children and parents.Fishchick Photoghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08832142879530304904noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6121175953658827634.post-64857189238085962672009-11-10T15:14:27.620-05:002009-11-10T15:14:27.620-05:00Hi! After much back & forth we have finally decided: immediate original family (my parents and my 4 siblings) pick 1 name for stocking & spend $45. Then for gifts all the adults pick 1 name and have a $75 gift limit. Kids all just get presents as usual. This is scaled back from last year when we would pick 2 names for gifts. I just think it gets out of hand and none of us *need* anything thankfully. I have a big family and it always feels a little excessive. Hopefully next year we will scale back more. Focus on the kiddies and the food I say and buy a toy or two for a child in need. :) KerryAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6121175953658827634.post-51471373165952289462009-11-10T12:23:13.928-05:002009-11-10T12:23:13.928-05:00We buy for everyone. Other than our kids, Keith and I don't buy for anyone other than my parents. We ended up with things we didn't need or want and felt pressured to spend $$ we didn't have. It sounds cold, but seems to work for us all.Caution/Lisahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11172990197662644455noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6121175953658827634.post-51026096997505344252009-11-10T05:44:22.099-05:002009-11-10T05:44:22.099-05:00My family is pretty spread out and we don't ha...My family is pretty spread out and we don't have any rules. That being said, I have no advice for you. I wonder who that is!

I bet she's pretty though. :)

I can't imagine having so many rules at the holiday time...ugh.

I do know a couple of people who do "family draws" and buy "family gifts", like a night out at the movies and stuff like that.

For Hanukkah, this year we're scaling way back. Last year we bought the boys new phones in addition to their other stuff, but I think I'm going to try to stretch $150 each (or less) over the 8 days. I'd rather give them smaller things. One night, as a yearly tradition, is a night where instead of an actual gift, we go to a movie or a show as a family (Fab Five: My sister comes too!).Melisa Wellshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14252498482861679154noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6121175953658827634.post-40540647715335253732009-11-09T20:55:41.337-05:002009-11-09T20:55:41.337-05:00Heeheehee... you're cracking me up.
