Foreshadowing

I caught a glimpse of my future yesterday.

It scared the shit out of me.

I picked up K from school and she asked to go to Dunkin Donuts on the way home to see if they had lemonade coolattas yet (a summertime treat). Reasonable request, so we hit one of 3 DD's in a 5 mile vicinity of school. (We can't get a Target on Cape Cod, but you could line up all the DDs on Cape Cod and probably walk on their roofs to England.)

I sweetly say to the nice man, "Are you serving lemonade coolattas yet?"

The very unfriendly man says, "We don't have them. They are now discontinued."

K opts for a glazed donut and as we get in the car, she bursts into tears and throws her donut in the backseat.

Yeah, she is THAT devastated over the "not ever again, lemonade coolatta".

She yells about never (NNNNEEEEEVVVVEEEERRRRRRRR) going to DDs again. Ever!

This tantrum goes on for 30 MINUTES.

OMG!

My mind immediately fast forwards to the first boyfriend break up. If she is crying for 30 minutes over lemonade, what is she going to be like after a breakup?

I need a show called Super Nanny for Teens. NBC, ABC, CBS, if you can read this could you quickly create this show because my graduate degree in teaching technically only goes through 3rd grade. I am currently wading in uncharted waters about to be in over my head!

Sometimes I'm really really glad I only have boys. And then I see pictures of people with their beautiful daughters, all dressed up and looking like angels, and I get all mushy inside.

*slap!*

Sorry. You just needed that.

BREATHE, Sue! You're going to be fine. Just remember who's in charge...and who's got the keys to the car and can leave the house when things get a little sticky. :)

I don't have girls (you knew that), but I'm really good at calming people down. Well, other than that slap-across-the-face thing up there. You can always call me if you need a voice of reason.

YIKES! Tell her I will send Brock down to beat her down again... Then they can sit down together and have lemonade. Good luck! You have a lot of years ahead of you with the hormones... With Halee off to college this year I see the light at the end of the tunnel with the other 2 girls.

OH NO! Your household has apparently been infected with the
Puberty Flu.

I laughed out loud at the Dunkin Donuts scenario. When we lived in Mashpee, we would choose our DD stop based on how many cars were in the parking lot.

Here in Central Florida, you have to plan half a morning to make a DD run.

Hey girl...you need to change your comment status thing so that when you leave one, your email address is available, cos right now i get "no-reply comment" as your address, and can't answer you :(

Thanks for your concern, Sue...my husband and I are doing well...it's a slow and painful process, but sooo good :)
