Ouch!

Yesterday, K got into the car after school and said, "If Ms. Blahblahblah calls you and asks you to go to the Science Museum as a chaperone next Thursday, say NO."

Me, "What? Why?"

K, "I don't want you to go."

Me, "Ouch."

There was a time, not very long ago, that she used to beg (BEG) me to chaperone field trips. She wouldn't think of going on the ones "over the bridge (off Cape)" without me on the trip.

Evidently the tides have changed and that makes me a little sad.

                                                                                  Happier field trip days....

Growing pains. Blech. Maybe she thinks you won't enjoy yourself?

think of it as a job well done - you have made her confident and independent...sad for us parents, but good for our kids :)

Ack! If you keep feeding them eventually they grow up and away from us.

It's good for K, not so good for Mom! Hang in there, someday she'll have a daughter just like her and the same thing will happen to her and then she will appreciate you that much more.

Now you just need to find something to keep you busy between now and then. ;)

When I hit this pothole in the road with my older daughter, I did indeed think OUCH! Now, she's turning 20 next month and I am proud of the independent woman she has become. Yet, when things take a downward turn, she stills calls mom. It makes me happy she turns to me for comfort. You're raising a fine girl, who is confident and wants to strike out on her own. Good for you! Good for you! However, it does nip at your heart a bit, doesn't it.
