Brought To You By the Letter "L"

Melisa with one S, has hooked me up with a letter. She did this meme on her blog where you had to list 10 of your favorite things beginning with a letter. She rocked the Rs and gave me L. For a full day I sang the song from Bert on Sesame Street, "Lalalala lemons, lalalala lightbulbs, lalalala linoleum etc.... I actually had to google the letter L to help myself think of some words that I loved. What can I say? L is a tricky letter.

I love....

1. lemons. Yes, Bert and I have that in common. I have always been able to eat lemons straight up. I cannot eat fish without lemon. I love, love. love lemonade, pink or yellow. And lemons are a happy yellow color!

2. Lambie.

When K entered Kind., my mom sent me a little lamb to snuggle with while I was missing K. The minute K got home from that first day of school, it was no longer mine. She has slept with Lambie for the past 6 1/2 years.

3. Labradoodle.

Got to love labradoodles, since I have one.

4. Lenses. I especially love my macro and telephoto lenses. I love taking pictures close up with them!

5. Libations. Wine doesn't start with L, so I had to go for the fancy word. White is my preference in case anyone wanted to send me a case or two.

6. Legos.

I loved legos as a kid and still enjoy playing with them. The girls love playing with them too. I just wish Legos made more girl ones. They have some, but are very hard to find in regular stores. We also enjoy the Lego store at Disney and go every time we are there to see the latest statues.

7. Lawn.

I love big green lawns. We had one when I was growing up. This is where I learned how to drive a riding lawnmower. Some day I will have a big, lush green lawn again. Not only do I like looking at them, I like smelling them when they're cut.

8. Learning. I like to learn new things. Whether it's book learning or just talking to someone and learning something new about them, I just like to learn!

9. Lap. Not as in my dog lapping my foot as she was just doing, but lap as in something to sit on. I love my girls sitting on my lap. I think I will still like it when they are in their 40s.

10. Laughter! Probably my favorite L word. I love to laugh, I love making people laugh, I love hearing laughter.

If by chance, you want to play along, let me know and I will hook you up with a letter!

Catching Up.

It's time to catch up on a few blog things. For instance awards! Yippee, KathyLikesPink and BecauseWendiSaysSo both gave me this great award.

It is a reminder to be an organ donor. Thank girls! I think if anyone is happening by my blog on a hot summer's day and would like it, then please take it. It is an important cause!

I was also tagged to do 2 memes. One was so long ago, I forgot. OOops. But Scargosun tagged me today, so I haven't forgotten it yet and will therefore get right to it.

Share 7 facts about yourself on your blog, some random, some weird. Tag 7 people at the end of your post by leaving their names as well as links to their blogs.

1. I just finished Jess Riley's 1st book called Driving Sideways. Ironically enough it is about organ donation. See how I tied that in to the award? Pure genius I tell you. It is fantastic and a great story!

2. Like Jen over at Scargosun, I too despise fruit and chocolate together unless we are talking about chocolate and banana. Especially if we are talking about chocolate and bananas in a crepe......mmmmmmmmyummy!

3. I have a french student here for 3 weeks. Today I learned that waffle in french is gouffe and in France they don't have maple syrup.

4. According to my friend Elizabeth, who just was visiting me, I was not honest and open enough in my 100 things posting. I guess I was suppose to write about how generous and giving I am . Yeah, like I am going to write about that :)

5. I have a beautiful picture of sunflowers on my desktop right now.

6. I am really scared of scary movies. I cannot be in the same room if one is on tv and my DH is watching it.

7. I could probably recite to you the entire movie of 16 Candles. I am kind of annoying to watch it with, because I say all the lines before the actors. Of course I crack myself up!

So, who to tag..... If you so desire
Wonderful World of Weiners she will come up with some beauties I am sure.
KathyLikesPink when she gets back from her vacation.
FromTalbotstoTarget when she gets out of her pool long enough.
BecauseWendiSaidSo because I say so.
WinePlz because everybody needs some wine.
Caution600 because she is smart and funny.

OK, I can count, that was only 6, the 7th is up for grabs. Anyone, anyone, Bueller, Beuller??

Hubby Meme

OK, sweet Melisa tagged me for a meme. {Mom, that means she did a post on her site and wants me to do it on my site. I know that last one confused you.} It's an interesting one because it's about my DH. A few of my friends have asked me what DH stands for. Well.. some days it stands for dear husband, and others, damn husband. Honestly, before you read this post, Matt is a great guy (his mom paid me to say that- Hi Pat :), just kidding, anyway he worries about providing for us, keeping my checkbook in the black etc.....I'll just get on with it.....

How long have you been together?
Since October of 1990. OK, sit right back and you'll hear a tale.....the way we met is kind of a cool story about fate....When I moved to the Cape in 1990, I didn't know anything about it. I watched a local show that spotlighted the cape and all it had to offer. There was a dad and his 2 boys (strapping young men) on the show. I thought , "Hey maybe, I will run in to them some day?". Fast forward to October, when I was at a coffee house(as in bar with live music) and in walked Matt, the hunk I had seen on the boat with his dad. Me, not shy in alcoholic situations, "Hey weren't you on tv in June with your dad and brother?" And it has been bliss (hahahaahahhahhhahhh) since then!
How long did you date? Ah, before we got married? Almost 4 years.
How old is he? 41, we are the same age for a month, then he's older.
Who said ‘I love you’ first? Hmmm, has Matt ever said that? It was definitely me the first 400 times, then I think he caught on.
Who is taller? Me shrimpy- 5'5, Him tall guy- 6'2
Who is smarter? I would love to say 'me of course' and do say that quite often, but he is very smart in certain subjects I have no knowledge of. Business planning, taxes, insurance, fixing anything on a boat, math. Me, I am more of the schooling smart kind of gal.
Who does the laundry? Um, me. Do men actually know how to use a washing machine?
Who does the dishes? Yeah, that would be me, too. Once, when we first go married, we had a thing going where one cooks, one cleans up. What did happen to that rule?
Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? OK, this has long been my side, but over the last year, Matt has conquered it. He says I have the better alarm clock. Maybe, it's time we switch alarm clocks?
Who pays the bills? Crap, we have to pay them?
Who mows the lawn? Your's truly. Yup, I am wonder woman. I learned at a young age how to mow the lawn on a riding mower and loved doing it. Now, I just love the look of a freshly mowed lawn and would wait to the cows come home if I waited for Matt to do it.
Who cooks dinner? ME,ME,ME,ME,ME,ME
Who is more stubborn? HIM,HIM,HIM,HIM
Who kissed who first? Um, memory is failing me on that one....
Who asked who out? Well, it might have been slutty me. We were in a bar one night and I asked him to play darts with me. Little did I know he didn't like to wear his glasses because he didn't think they were cool and he could barely see the dart board.
Who proposed? He did, but that's another story. He had the ring before Christmas, chickened out until I demanded my unopened Christmas present on Valentine's Day. He wanted to save it until my birthday (the end of March). He was so stressed out, he practically threw it at me.
Who is more sensitive? Sniff, sniff, me

Ok, so now you know who wears the pants in the family. Me, obviously. Somedays I would like to take them off and wear a ball gown and eat bonbons on the couch, but that's so not me or my life and that's OK!

I'm new to this tagging thing, so I am going to open it up to anyone reading. If you want to share your husbands (cushy) life with blog world, bring it on, just let me know!

First Meme

I really don't have any idea what a meme is, but the word is thrown around the blogosphere like a hot potato. In french it means "the same". I'm guessing it means do the same thing I do, only in your words. Someone, feel free to tell me if I am anywhere close to solving this mystery. Anyway, I have jumped on to Laskigals meme she offered up to anyone today. By the way, there are some hot pictures of her husband's hair on her blog......Here are the rules:

  • Pick up the nearest book of at least 123 pages.

  • Open the book to page 123.

  • Find the 5th sentence.

  • Post the next 3 sentences.

  • Tag 5 people.
OK, #1, I am not one for tagging people, so if you would like to indulge in this meme, let me know and knock yourself out. #2 The last book I read was Sleeping with Ward Cleaver, which I have already sung praises about. Since then, too much relocating my parents, so I have read nothing longer than a 5 page article and even that took a few days. So I just meandered over to the bookcase and grabbed, How to Say It to Girls: Communicating with Your Growing Daughter
This is what I found.....(Topic is Spirituality)
"*Let's say 3 things we're each thankful for before I tuck you into bed.
*I'm praying to God for help to figure out what to do.
*I believe that there's a strong energy for good in the world.
Encourage her questions about religion and spirituality."

Nothing juicy there, just some good wholesome advice. Now you know I will be going to page 123 of the next book I read to check things out. I am planning on having time to read another book around Mother's Day.
