Sundays in My City

Unknown Mami

Unknown Mami sponsors Sundays in My City. From what I understand, you take pictures of your town and put them into a post on Sundays. I thought I would give it a try, since um HELLO, Cape Cod is beautiful.

Last Sunday, I went for a walk on the beach. Being a predominantly summer area, lots of houses are boarded up for the winter.

This is an egg sac for conchs. (Don't pronounce the ch, pronounce it k)

This is part of a conch shell.

The imprint on the left is a seagull foot print. The purple part on the shell is called wampum. Back in the day, the Native Americans used that as money.

This is a (dead) baby horseshoe crab. They are very prehistoric in nature.

So there you have it, Sunday at Forest Beach! Check it out!

Wow - so beautiful.... thanks for sharing a look at Cape Cod. We found a small section of conch egg sac once. It was no more than 1 inch long & it had lots of tiny little shells.

Ooh, I wanna see more more more!!!!!!!!

It drives me insane when people pronounce conch with the ch sound. Oy!

I haven't seen a horseshoe crab since my days in NY. I miss the ugly suckers!

you can tell it's cold there but seeing the water and sand makes me believe it's almost summer time. Have a wonderful Sunday!

I love the photos. I live in Santa Barbara so the ocean is right here. Your sea shells photos are really great.

Thank you for the pronunciation guide. It's tough, but I think the third photo is my favorite.

I love the pictures. I grew up in Harwich for 18 years and this really reminds me of home :) PS I'm sure you know this but did you know Horseshoe crabs are more closely related to spiders than they are to crabs??? kinda cool huh?
