More on Galveston

Ok, it's been awhile. Sometimes life gets busy. Perhaps you can understand? My 4th of July post will be later this week, but I will continue with Galveston because that is a story that needs to be finished first.

More on the jumpers and the real reason why we were there tomorrow.

Galveston was devestated by hurricane Ike last September. The people of Galveston were very happy to host the jump rope nationals because if brought people back to the island. Many parts of the island have made a comeback, but there are still lots of reminders of the hurricane.
Here are some pictures of the damage that remains...

Tomorrow, more on the jumpers and the fun, beautiful parts of the island!

Wow! All these months later and the destruction is still so visable. Glad to hear the island is making a comeback. I think it's terrific that the nationals were held there and you helped the islanders' economy along. Can't wait to hear more about the Nationals tomorrow and your experiences.

Even with all the areas that still need to be repaired from Ike last fall, it's still beautiful. Hopefully more organizations will bring their events to Galveston to help boost the economy more.

btw, it appears you will be going to BlogHer...I'll look for you! (or take this as a warning and duck and hide if you see me...ha ha)

That water line photo is incredible. Well, all the pics are great, but you know what I mean. I've never been there. I agree with Colleen: it's still quite beautiful.

That picture of the water line is something else - what devastation they had.

Looking forward to more news and pics!
