Derby Day was yesterday! We celebrated with our 3rd annual Derby Hat/Fascinator party. We are definitely getting better at making them! This year, we had a few new friends with us, Wendy and her 2 little girls. 

You'll notice that K did not participate in the making of the hats, but she did snap a few pictures in between snoozing on the couch. It was prom 2 nights ago and she hadn't quite recovered yet!

It's been a fun, busy Easter day so far! Egg decorating, hunting, church, another hunt and brunch. Phew! Hope your day is as nice!

Sundays In My City

Winter storms have battered the coast for the past 6 weeks. Stories of erosion and houses falling into the ocean are common on the news. B and I ventured out to a few places over the past 2 days to document some of the damage and in some cases, beauty. These photos were taken on Lighthouse Beach in Chatham. Some of you may recognize the Beach Club's tennis court. Maybe they can have sand castle contests on it now? There was a Coast Guard boat checking out the seas (glad it wasn't me).

These photos were taken at the Chatham Fish Pier and at Scatteree Beach. We joked that the boat with all the seaweed in it was probably Brooke's dad's boat. It was.

These photos were taken at Nauset Beach in Orleans. That is Liam's Clam Shack from the front and back. Looks like the clams might be a little sandy this year. Also, the gazebo is on the edge of the parking lot (that is covered in sand). B is sitting on a bench that has a 6 foot drop on the other side of it.

These are some random photos of Chatham Light, B pretending she is on a balance beam and a clever way to hold up a new house in 50 mph winds.

Sundays In My City

It has been cold here this week. As a born and raised New Englander, I am OK with the cold.  What I love (and the fishermen don't like) is when the ocean freezes. It looks cool and before I moved to Cape Cod, I never new that saltwater could freeze. K and I went out and took some shots yesterday....

As promised, more cuteness pictures. Baby Fin (and his mom!) came and visited this weekend. We all got some snuggle time and in between my schedule and naps (his, not mine), I was able to take a few cute shots. 

Adorbs! I cannot wait until they come back for Thanksgiving!!

Sundays In My City

Last night we went out to dinner at the Noble House to celebrate my nephew, Sam, moving to Colorado for the winter to work at the Winter Park Ski Area. The Noble House is a Japanese restaurant where they cook on a hibachi right in front of you. It's the place my nephews pick when they are allowed a "special" restaurant. 

I love when all the cousins are together cracking each other up!

The chef loves to cook up some eggs and then try to get a piece in everyone's mouth. The first pic is Sam trying to catch it. Carlos, the chef, tried to have a little fun with B and told her to close her eyes while he filled up a spatula of egg. 

The high point of the night is the onion volcano. It may have singed someone's eyebrows. Just kidding.

It will be weird not having Sam around for the winter, but I can pretty much guarantee a return trip to the Noble House when he gets home in April!

Chatham celebrated Spring Fling this weekend with the Blessing of the Fleet, a "tour de Chatham", lots of activities downtown and tours of the lighthouse. I had never been up in the lighthouse before, so I dragged P and my nephew J with me. (K was working, B was at MIT making robots). The view was fantastic and I really wish I had more room to move around up there. As a bit of advice, do not wear a skirt when you are climbing up a lighthouse ladder. I am sure I gave the retired Coast Guard man a peek along with a few other tourists. (You are welcome or I'm sorry).

This is another lighthouse in Chatham (Stage Harbor Lighthouse) and you could see it from our bird's eye view.

P's down there at the bottom. Should have brought the other lens so I didn't have to stand across the yard just to get this picture.

I know that they have tours often in the summer, so if you are down, head on in! Remember, just don't wear a skirt.
