Boston

There is nothing like a ride on a yellow school bus to get your adrenaline pumping for the day! Yes, the 3rd grade and I went on a field trip to Boston today. And yes, it took a good 1 1/2 hours to get there. On a yellow school bus. More fun couldn't be had anywhere else!

We went on the Duck Tours. These car/boats are amphibious mobiles that were used in WWII (I think). You get a tour around Boston and then you get a tour on the Charles River. It is very cool actually. We couldn't have planned a nicer day for this.
An example of a duck boat in the water.
The Boston sky line.
The Zakim Memorial Bridge.

Then we went to the Boston Common, had lunch and then went for a ride on the swan boats.

After the swan boats, we stopped by and visited Mrs. Mallard with her duckies from Make Way for Ducklings. This is a great book by the way if you haven't already read it yourself or to your kids.

Then it was the ride home, rest for 1 hour and head to soccer practice. You'll have to excuse me if there are more pictures than words tonight, but I am tired!

Don't mind the photos - I love Boston!
Beautiful weather for the trip, too.

I have a little drawing by some artist in Boston of the ducklings hanging in my bathroom. I also love the brownstones - but a 3rd grade class trip probably doesn't do that kind of site-seeing.

Is that your last field trip for the year?

Karla, I would love to say "yes, that is my last field trip!" But, oh no! Tomorrow, (FRI) I am riding 27 miles on a bike with the 5th graders. I have got to be NUTS! There is ice cream at the end, though.

There will be a few more activities, I am sure. We don't get out of school until June 23rd!

Oh, and about Fisher Price. The nativity and the Christmas train are newish. Then they seem to come out with something every year to add on to it. I am a sucker for Fisher Price.

I'm sorry, but did you say 27 miles on a bike? Wouldn't that take a week or so???

Great pictures. Field trips are a lot of fun, but oh so exhausting.
I'm enjoying all the trips my kids have because too soon they will be too old to have them.

Wow you couldn't have had a better day for it! Darling Daughter is off on a field trip today too - big band competition in Springfield, then they were all going to Six Flags. I'm very glad I didn't have to go. But I miss the elementary school field trips. They were a blast!
