Photos R'Us

I grew up knowing that if I saw a camera, I was suppose to smile. We have lots and lots of pictures of my sister, brother and I smiling in pictures. My dad was the videographer, my mom had the camera. I got my first "real" camera when I graduated from college. Now I am the camera holder in the family. I am always the one that has it at all family functions.

The iphone has worked wonders for not having to bring the "big" camera along all the time. It's convenient for quick photos. Last weekend, B had a swim meet in Springfield and my mom needed to get off the island for a bit so the 3 of us embarked on an adventure. We stopped and saw my brother, his wife and my niece and nephew. All 4 adorable, but that's not where the real story is. They live near our favorite ice-cream place. My mom, B and I went to get ice-cream for our ride to western Mass. My mom, who once was on the forefront of camera knowledge, is more on the back burner of mobile phone use. She does not have a smart phone, she actually has a flip phone. She says to me that she will take a picture of B and I and our big, delicious ice-creams on my iphone.

First she took this:

Then, she proceeded to take 2 videos that I unfortunately deleted.

Then, she somehow got my phone on rapid fire and took the following.

I think I need to get her an iphone just to have more pictures like these. We were in hysterics. And laughter is like an ab workout in itself. Awesome ice-cream + ab workout = Win/win!!

It's a Girl Thing

I spent parts of  2 days last week doing something good for myself.

And no, it did not include manicures, facials, chocolate or wine.

I had my annual GYN appt. and a mammogram. (If you are a guy and are blushing, feel free to come back tomorrow.) You have to take care of the inside as much as you take care of the outside.

This being said, I spent some time in the past 2 days, wearing  beautiful pink johnnies. I swear I tried to take a picture of myself in one, but my iPhone camera wasn't working. I took my iPhone straight to the iPhone God at Verizon, where he fiddled with it and fixed it. See...

Adrian is the best of the best when it comes to figuring out phones.

Anyway, back to my johnny....
I am curious to know if there is a certain way to sit comfortably and modestly in a johnny.

One can adopt the Cosmo pose of laying down on the table on your side and welcoming you Dr. with a wink and a smile.

There is the Good Posture award pose, where you would be sitting up straight, legs dangling, but this  usually only lasts for about 3 minutes until your back starts hurting from actually sitting up straight.

One can always try the slouch, but try holding in your stomach while you are slouching. Not a good look.

Crossing your legs is really awkward in a johnny.

Once you figure out how to sit, then you have to figure out what to do. Counting freckles, wondering how much Purel a Dr's office goes through a day, reading all the flyers on the wall even if they have nothing to do with you (where to get a flu shot, how to figure out your time of ovulation, newborn class), trying to listen to the Dr. talk to the patient in the next room(they should really supply glass cups to make this easier), or do you pull out your phone.

If you pull out your phone, where do you put it when the Dr. comes in? Awkward. I think my new invention will be fancy johnies with pockets for phones.....or snacks.

I should have them out by the year 2113....

Lesson for the Day

My friend, Claire, who could have at one point been my mother-in-law (that's another story), was having trouble with her cell phone. She took it to the cell store and told the salesperson that it wouldn't work. The salesperson said, "Well, it must have gotten wet."

Claire insisted that it did not get wet.

Salesperson, "Well maybe you left it in the rain, maybe you dropped in a puddle...."

Claire said, "No, it goes from my car, to my purse, to my counter. It most definitely didn't get wet!"

The salesperson opened up the phone and in the back there is some little button that glows red when it gets wet. Well, it was glowing pink. The girl said, "It definitely has some condensation in it, are you sure it hasn't been near humidity, sweat, water or any kind?'

The proverbial light bulb went off in Claire's head. "Well, if I don't have a pocket or my purse, I sometimes keep my phone in my bra."

There is your lesson for the day... If you are going to keep your phone in your bra, make sure you are not sweating.
